CAD drawings
The Door & Window Centre Ltd can provide you with a CAD drawing of your desired conservatory giving you a vision of what you would like. The CAD drawing is available free of charge with all quotes. Examples of CAD drawings provided by us are shown below:
Thermal Insulation
We use Kooline Activ Blue™ which contains Pilkington K glass™. This is a thermally efficient glass and therefore will keep more heat in the building. Your conservatory will be kept warm even in the coldest winter weather, making it a more comfortable environment and helping to reduce your heating bills.
Kooline Activ Blue™ sealed units are also filled with argon gas which helps to reduce the U Value of the unit and therefore make it thermally more efficient.
Kooline Activ Blue™ is the ideal double glazed sealed unit for your conservatory roof.
That’s because it’s the only insulating glass unit that combines the beneficial qualities of self-cleaning technology, solar control and thermal insulation.
Solar Control
Pilkington Activ is an attractive tinted glass that comes in “blue, green, clear and neutral”. It combines dual-action, self-cleaning properties with medium solar control performance helping to create a cooler internal environment in the summer which can be used all year round; whilst still maintaining light transmittance.
How it works
The glass manages solar heat radiation by three mechanisims: reflectance, transmittance and absorbance.
These are defined as follows:
- Reflectance – the proportion of solar radiation reflected back into the atmosphere.
- Direct transmittance – the proportion of solar radiation transmitted directly through the glass.
- Absorptance – the proportion of solar radiation absorbed by the glass
Self-Cleaning Technology
Kooline Activ Blue™ contains a microscopic coating which uses sunlight and rainwater to break down and wash away organic dirt from the exterior surface of the glass unit, making it ideal for hard to reach places that are difficult to clean, such as conservatory roofs. This helps to make Kooline Activ Blue™ the perfect low maintenance unit.
How it works
The coating has photo-catalyctic and hydrophilic properties, and works in two stages:
Stage 1 – The coating reacts with natural daylight to break down and loosen organic dirt.
Stage 2 – when it rains, instead of forming droplets, the water spreads evenly over the surface of the glass, helping to wash away any dirt and reduce streaking.
Styles
They will be designed around your home and garden’s layout to make sure you get the most benefit.
Traditional homes may suit Edwardian conservatories or Victorian conservatory styles, but The Door and Window Centre Ltd installers can also design bespoke creations to ensure you get your dream conservatory – to enjoy for years to come.
Victorian Style Conservatory: – 4m x 4m
This design comes with a ridged roof and a three or five faceted end wall creating a half rounded feature. This unusual aspect makes the external design of Victorian style conservatories attractive but can slightly restrict the layout of furniture internally.
Edwardian Conservatories Design
The Classic rectangular design of Edwardian style conservatories allows the optimum use of space. A ridged roof system ensures symmetry of design.
Edwardian Gable Conservatories
A flat-featured gable-end running from a ridged roof provides a classic shaped conservatory, favoured in upmarket new build projects.
Lean-to Style Conservatory: – 4m x 3m
The simplest and most popular form of conservatory, sometimes known as a sunroom. A single sloped roof running along the length of an external house wall.
P-Shape or T-Shape
If your budget will stretch to it you can create your perfect conservatory by designing the shape to suit your needs.
Bespoke Conservatories
If you have very specific ideas of how you want your conservatory to look, just talk to a Door and Window Centre Ltd expert. They will be able to design a bespoke conservatory to your own individual requirements to ensure you get the very best.
Lantern Top
Lantern top roofs offer an elegant, classic look for larger conservatories. The roof consists of two tiers with the different levels separated by a row of small windows. This style gives a conservatory real ‘presence’ and adds to the feeling of spaciousness.
